Why Oil Testing?
In accordance with Regulation 14 of Central Electricity Authority -2023 (Measures relating to Safety and Electric Supply), it is essential that all electrical equipment are constructed, installed, protected, and maintained to ensure safety of human being and properties. Regular testing of transformer oil is a vital part of this maintenance process. Timely oil testing helps detect potential issues early, preventing costly equipment failures and ensuring a reliable power supply.
Regulatory Compliance & Testing Frequency:
The CEA Safety Regulations : 2023 mandate regular transformer oil testing. Specifically, sampling from both the top and bottom of the transformer must be performed, as outlined in Form III of the CEA Regulations. Additionally, the BIS standard IS 1866:2017 recommends the following testing frequencies:
